BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain Sunday called for the scrapping of article 370 of the constitution that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a programme marking the 113th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh - the precursor to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Hussain said while he had the right to buy land in Kolkata, he could not do that in Kashmir.
"I'm a Muslim. But I don't have the right to build a house in Kashmir," he said.
Arguing that such rights could not be divided on religious considerations, Hussain said one should not see vital issues through a Hindu-Muslim lens.
"Those Muslims, who refused to leave India during the partition, now are proud of their decision. They don't have to live in fear of drone attacks, which happens in Pakistan".
Attacking West Bengal's Trinamool Congress government, Hussain said: "There is neither law, nor order in the state."
Exuding confidence of the BJP forming the government in the state after the 2016 assembly polls, he said: "We have emerged victorious over Lal Qila in Delhi. Now, it won't take us long to take over Writer's Buildings (Bengal's permanent state secretariat - now under renovation) in Kolkata."
