The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is prepared to have the Lokpal bill passed without discussion in parliament, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said Saturday.
"The BJP is prepared to pass the Lokpal bill as approved by a select committee without a discussion in parliament," tweeted Swaraj.
Her statement came after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi batted strongly for the Lokpal bill, saying it was a "serious weapon to fight corruption" and sought the help of all political parties in passing it at the earliest.
"We do not want to leave any excuses with the government. Let Rajya Sabha pass Lokpal bill on Monday. We will pass the bill in the Lok Sabha Tuesday," she posted on the micro-blogging site.
