Blast near Kabul airport

A massive explosion hit the entrance to the Kabul airport on Monday, Afghan police said.

Sources told Al Jazeera that a car bomb was used in the attack which took place at the civilian entrance of the Kabul International Airport, adding that there were fatalities.

The attack appeared to target a convoy of armoured cars, according to security officials.
