The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have seized fake Indian currency notes of the face value of Rs 7 lakh in West Bengal's Malda district, an official said on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, the BSF troopers launched a raid near the fence gate of the India-Bangladesh border at Churiantpur on Saturday night and seized 350 counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000 denomination from the spot, Deputy Inspector General R.P.S. Jaswal of the BSF's South Bengal Frontier said in a press release.

"The criminals present on the Indian side to collect the FICN (Fake Indian Currency Notes) were challenged by the troopers but managed to escape," he added.

The BSF of the South Bengal Frontier has seized counterfeit Indian currency notes of the face value of Rs 21.98 lakh and apprehended two smugglers so far this year.
