A Bangladeshi national wanted in the 2014 Burdwan blast case in West Bengal was arrested on Tuesday by the Jharkhand Anti Terrorist (ATS) unit in coordination with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), police said.
This is the first case cracked by the Jharkhand ATS that was constituted a few days ago.
"An NIA team informed the ATS about the movement of accused Tariqul Islam alias Sadik. The ATS and NIA in a joint raid arrested Sadik from area bordering Ranchi and Ramgarh district," Jharkhand Police spokesperson S.N. Pradhan told IANS.
Police said Sadik - carrying a reward of Rs.5 lakh - was earlier moving in Pakur and other districts bordering Bangladesh. For the last few days, the NIA had information on his movement in Ramgarh and Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand ATS was tipped-off about his movements two days ago.
Sources said the Jharkhand ATS has a big challenge ahead to track terror activities and bust sleeper cells of terrorists as many of them have been arrested from the state in the past.
