Cab driver arrested for molesting minor

A cab driver for a private company in Gurgaon was arrested here for allegedly molesting a ten-year-old girl, who was his neighbour, police said on Monday.

Police said the accused identified as Ravi, 40, a resident of Preet Vihar, was arrested following a complaint made by the girl's parents.

The incident took place on Friday evening, police said.

According to police, the girl was playing outside her home, when Ravi lured her on the pretext of a joy ride in his car, and an ice-cream but took her to a isolated place where he allegedly molested her. He also threatened her with dire consequences, if she told anyone about the incident, before dropping her back home.

"The girl next day, narrated her ordeal to her mother, following which a case was registered against Ravi in Preet Vihar Police Station on the basis of her statement. Ravi was arrested under charges of Sections 363 (Punishment for kidnapping), 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code," said a police officer.
