The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Monday sought clarification from the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha panel on whether the Assistant Secretary's post is considered as that of an office bearer.

"The committee has decided that those who are disquaified as per the qualifications (of the Lodha committee) will stand disqalifed with immediate effect," CAB's legal counsel Usha Nath Banerjee told journalists after the organisation's working committee meeting.

"With respect of office of Assistant Secretary, a clarification has been sought from the Lodha Committee and no sooner the clarification comes, it will be immediately effective," Banerjee said.

The CAB move signifies that if the Panel classifies the post of Assistant Secretary as that of an office bearer, then Treasurer Biswaroop Dey and Joint Secretary Subir Ganguly will no longer be eligible to hold any office in Indian cricket as they have completed their nine-year term. Both of them have held the CAB Assistant Secretary's slot in the past.

Banerjee trashed reports that Dey had said during an informal meeting with former BCCI Presidents N. Srinivasan and Anurag Thakur in Bengaluru two days ago that the CAB had "instigated" the Lodha reforms.

"There were rumours that during the course of the informal meeting in Bangalore, the honorary treasurer allegedly said that CAB is instigating Lodha Committee. He has said that he never uttered that word," he said.
