The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected a protest by the Federation of Uganda Football Association (Fufa) that Zambia had fielded overage players in a qualification match in the U-17 Championship.

Zambia had knocked out Uganda 4-1 on aggregate in the last stage of the qualifiers to the 2015 Africa U-17 Championship which will take place in Niger. Fufa immediately lodged a protest and Wednesday it was rejected by CAF, reports Xinhua.

"We received a letter from CAF indicating that our protest was not successful," said Edgar Watson, the Fufa chief executive officer.

Watson said the letter signed by the Secretary General, CAF, told them that according to their details the Zambian players were not overage.

Uganda had raised objections about three players - Patson Daka, Enock Mwepu and Changwe Kalale. Fufa citing media reports in Zambia said that Kalale was reportedly born March 31, 1997 which made him overage for the 2015 qualifiers.
