Canada's Governor General David Johnston will pay a state visit to India Feb 22-March 2 during which he will meet President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Johnston will be the first Canadian head of state to visit India since 1998.
An external affairs ministry release said that Johnston will hold discussions with the president, the prime minister and Vice President Hamid Ansari Feb 24. External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid will also call upon the visiting leader.
Johnston will interact with Indian and Canadian businesses and with Indian innovators, it said.
The delegation accompanying Johnston is likely to include representatives from government, business and academia and is expected to visit Agra,Bangalore and Mumbai.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper had visited India in November 2012.
