The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed closure report in two coal scam cases, said an official here Monday.
"The probing agency filed the closure report in the coal case related to JLD Yavatmal Energy and JAS Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. due to lack of prosecutable evidence," said a CBI official.
Congress MP Vijay Darda and his brother Rajendra, the Maharashtra education minister, have been accused of direct and active involvement in the affairs of three companies -- JLD Yavatmal Energy, JAS Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. and AMR Iron Steel Pvt. Ltd -- which allegedly received coal blocks illegally by means of inflating their financial statements and overriding the legal tender process.
After the closure report filed last week in these two cases, the number of cases investigated by the CBI in the coal blocks allocation totals 16.
