The CBI has registered an FIR against nine persons, including a former Assistant Geologist, in connection with illegal mining of minerals in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, an official said on Friday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also conducted raids at 10 places in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in this connection, the official added.
The CBI officials conducted searches in Delhi, Lucknow, Aligarh and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh; and Haryana's Bhiwani, Sonepat and Panipat on Friday.
"The CBI has registered a case against the nine accused, including then Assistant Geologist of Shamli, related to alleged illegal mining of minor minerals in Shamli and conducts searches today (Friday) at 10 places in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh," CBI spokesperson R.K. Gaur said.
