In its continuing campaign against black money stashed away abroad, the government on Wednesday approved amendments to the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) between India and Portugal, an official said.

"The Union Cabinet has given its approval for signing of a Protocol amending the Convention between India and Portugal for avoidance of double taxation," a Finance Ministry statement here said.

"The Protocol will also ensure prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income," it said.

Under this protocol, India and Portugal would be able to exchange tax-related information, which will help authorities of both countries curb tax evasion, it added.
