A three-year-old child fell into a 100-foot-deep borewell on Sunday in a field in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district. The army's help has been sought in the rescue effort being carried out, a police official said.
Raghav, son of villager Devendra Sharma, had gone along with his grandmother to the fields in Nand Gangoli village where he fell into the borewell while playing.
Morena district Superintendent of Police Vineet Khanna told IANS that police and revenue department teams have reached the spot and a rescue operation has been launched. The army has been requested to help.
He said the child, stuck 60-feet underground in the borewell, was being provided oxygen to enable him breathe. The movements of the child were being monitored through cameras pushed down the borewell.
