China will improve consumer rights protection in 2016, creating a better consumption environment to increase spending, State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) Chief Zhang Mao said on Thursday.

The business regulator will better enforce regulations on consumer rights, especially in the unconditional return of goods for a refund within seven days of an online transaction, and after-sales maintenance, Xinhua news agency reported.

The regulator will also vigorously promote random checks on product quality.

Products aimed at children, home improvements and auto spare parts will be the focus of quality protection next year, Zhang said.
