China blasts toll rises to 164

The toll in the warehouse explosions in China's Tianjin city ros to 164 on Thursday, with nine people still missing, the rescue authorities said.

The victims include 98 firefighters, 11 policemen and 55 civilians. Hundreds still remain in hospital, Xinhua news agency reported.

Two blasts ripped through a warehouse at around 11.30 p.m. on August 12 in Tianjin Port, where large amounts of toxic chemicals, including around 700 tonnes of sodium cyanide, were stored.
