China's meteorological authority on Sunday issued a yellow alert for heavy rains across most parts of the country.
Thunderstorms will hit the provinces of Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei and Yunnan from Sunday to Monday morning, with precipitation reaching 200 mm in some areas, the National Meteorological Centre said on its website.
The centre suggested people reduce outdoor activities and take precautions against possible floods and landslides, Xinhua news agency reported.
China has a four-tier colour-coded system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
