China removes CPC member Jiang Jiemin from supervisory post

China's cabinet Tuesday announced the removal of CPC member Jiang Jiemin as head of the Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) on graft charges.

On Sep 3, the central committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) had removed Jiang as head of SASAC because of suspected serious violations, two days after officials confirmed he was being investigated.

Jiang is the first full member of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC under investigation for graft.

In a statement Tuesday, the State Council or cabinet also announced a number of appointments and removals of government officials, Xinhua reported.

Li Baodong was appointed vice foreign minister, while Ma Zhaoxu and Le Yucheng will no longer be the assistant foreign minister.

Wang Wenbin was appointed the SASAC deputy director, replacing Shao Ning and Chen Shixin as World Bank executive director for China replacing Yang Shaolin.

Ning Jizhe was appointed the head of the Research Office of the State Council.

Wang Shouwen, Wang Bingnan and Zhang Xiangchen were appointed assistant commerce ministers.

Fu Zhenghua, head of Beijing's Public Security Bureau, was appointed vice minister of public security.
