Chopper crashes with injured skier

Rome, Jan 24 (IANS/AKI) A helicopter crashed in fog on Tuesday in central Italy's Abruzzo region with a reported five to six people on board as it took an injured skier to hospital.

Rescuers were attempting to located the chopper, which is believed to have crashed from a height of around 600 metres near the mountainside town of Lucoli in the province of L'Acquila.

The helicopter had taken off from Campo Felice ski resort and was flying to the Abruzzio regional capital L'Aquila at the time of the disaster.
