"Sex and the City" star Chris Noth has been cast in the third season of "Tyrant".

Noth has joined the FX drama in the role of US General William Cogswell, who was summarily transferred out of Abbudin and returns to that country when Barry Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner) assumes the provisional presidency, reports variety.com.

Noth currently stars on "The Good Wife", which is ending after its current season. His previous credits include playing Mr. Big on HBO's "Sex and the City".

"Tyrant" was renewed for its third season back in October 2015. The Middle East-set drama will return with 10 episodes this year, though no premiere date has been set.
