Dominka Cibulkova of Slovakia avenged her humiliating loss to Agnieszka Radwanska earlier in the year by beating the Polish top seed 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the Bank of the West Classic final.
Radwanska in January defeated Cibulkova 6-0, 6-0 in the Sydney Open final, which became the first final sweep loss of Cibulkova's career, reports Xinhua.
"The difference between Sydney and here was that I made the first game. And after the first game I looked at my coach and was like, 'Here we go. I'm out here, and it's going to be good today'," said Cibulkova.
It was the third WTA singles title for Cibulkova, and the Slovak rises to 21 in the world rankings because of the victory.
