With the ruling Congress relegated to third position after elections to the Delhi assembly, leading industry chamber CII Sunday hoped that the new state leadership will promote inclusive growth and development and looked forward to a strong industry-government partnership.

"CII hopes that the new state leadership will work to promote sustained inclusive growth and development, transforming the state into an economically vibrant, technologically innovative and socially inclusive state," Jayant Davar, chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, said here.

"In its continuing effort to promote social inclusiveness and development, CII will partner with the new government to make Delhi truly a services hub and the most preferred destination for investors, with strong focus on enhancing skills, social security, infrastructure, water, access to quality healthcare for all, women's empowerment and gender sensitivity," he added.

A CII statement pointed out that it has worked through the Delhi Task Force to facilitate the engagement between private industry and government on urban development and urban governance.

Industry chamber Assocham said results Sunday of recent elections in four states are conveying a strong message on the need to ensure good governance.

"Election results in the assembly elections have thrown a clear message: It is the quality of governance which matters at the end of the day," Assocham said, adding that a political party that delivers on governance would remain relevant.
