The respite from the heatwave in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to continue on Wednesday as the Met office forecast light rains would occur at most of the places in the state during the next 24 hours.
"Weather is likely to remain cloudy throughout Jammu and Kashmir today (Wednesday) as we are expecting light rains during the next 24 hours," the weather office said.
"Respite from heatwave conditions especially in Jammu region is likely to continue for another two days as we are expecting cloudy weather up to Friday morning," a Met department official said.
According to the official, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.1 degrees Celsius in Jammu city on Wednesday. It was, however, two degrees above the season's average.
"The minimum temperature in Katra town was recorded at 21.1 degrees Celsius while it was 11.9 degrees Celsius in Batote, 11.7 in Bannihal, 11.0 in Bhaderwah and 20.1 in Udhampur town.
"The minimum temperature was 12.3 in Srinagar. In Gulmarg it was 5.4 degrees Celsius and in Pahalgam 8.5 degrees Celsius.
"Leh town recorded 10.9 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature while Kargil town recorded 7.6 as the day's minimum temperature," the official said.
