The Congress in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday accused the Narendra Modi-led central government and Mufti Sayeed-led Jammu and Kashmir government of failure on all fronts.

Shobha Oza, the president of the All India Mahila Congress, accused Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed of a cavalier attitude in rehabilitating flood victims of the 2014 deluge.

Accusing the ruling alliance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of "only enjoying luxuries of power", she said it "has no care for the welfare of people of the state".

"People here feel frustrated, they aren't getting the relief that government had promised them. When PDP was in opposition, they promised the sky to the people," the Congress leader said, adding that since coming to power in Jammu and Kashmir the BJP-PDP have left people in the lurch.

Earlier, Oza led a protest rally against the Jammu and Kashmir government and addressed a women's convention at the Pradesh Congress Committee office in Srinagar.

"Instead of coming to the rescue of people awaiting relief, it is shameful that the PDP-BJP ruling alliance has rubbed salt on the wounds of the people by fighting on the amount of package needed to rehabilitate them," Oza said.

She said every section of society was disappointed by the "non-performance" of the state government here and Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre.

"Be it relief for J&K state, securing borders of country, black money issue, compensation to farmers - this government has proved an abysmal failure," Oza said.

On the forest land issue in Jammu region, where the government has reportedly taken selective action in Muslim majority areas, she said: "BJP is known to be a communal party and has always encouraged fascist powers. It has remained all the way an anti-minority organisation."

"BJP is powered by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's communal and anti-women ideology," she said.

"The union government's Beti-Bachao, Beti Padhao' (save girl, educate girl) programmes are just a camouflage and nothing beyond an event management. Country's wealth is wasted on things which are just a show-off," the All India Mahila Congress president said.
