Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Friday said conventional methods were not enough to counter modern terrorism and assured that the critical requirements of Indian forces dealing with the menace would be met.

Delivering a speech at the 31st Raising Day function of the National Security Guard (NSG) at Manesar campus, Rijiju said that the NSG was one of the elite, best and strongest anti-terrorism forces in the world and the countrymen were proud of it.

Rijiju said the NSG's 'Operation Black Tornado' during the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai in 2008 was the greatest counter-terrorism exercise in the country.

He also paid tributes to NSG personnel who laid down their lives for the nation and honoured the family members of the martyrs of the elite 'Black Cats'.

Later, NSG commandos presented a thrilling demo of their operational capabilities.

Subedar Major B.S. Guleria was awarded the President's Medal, while R.C. Siwtach, Mahender Singh, P. Kamlakanan and R. Nagd were honoured with Police Medals.

Commando Praveen Kumar was declared the best 'Black Cat' while Geeta Yadav was honoured with the best woman commando award.
