The city witnessed slight rains early morning followed by a cool, pleasant afternoon as Thursday's maximum temperature dropped six notches below the season's average at 32.8 degrees Celsius. The Met office has forecast light rains Friday.

The city got a much-needed respite from the hot, sultry weather it had been experiencing for the last few days as Delhi residents, making most of the pleasant weather, ventured out to India Gate and Connaught Place to savour the weather. Some even left office early.

"The weather was too good to resist so I left office early and caught up with friends for some shopping in Connaught Place," said 24-year-old sales executive, Nupur Bhatia.

Meanwhile, the Met department has forecast similar weather along with rains Friday as well.

"The skies will be cloudy tomorrow (Friday) and there is a chance of rain accompanied by thunderstorm in some parts," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 35 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Thursday's minimum temperature was a notch above average at 28.8 degrees Celsius and the maximum humidity settled at 78 percent.
