Coolest June 14 in Delhi in five years, cloudy Monday likely

Enjoying the pleasant aftermath of the previous day's heavy thundershowers, the national capital on Sunday experienced the coolest June 14 in the last five years with the maximum and minimum temperatures remaining seven notches below average. Some rain is likely on Monday too.

The maximum temperature on Sunday was 32.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 20.5 degrees.

An official of India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that in 2013, the city has recorded 33 degrees Celsius as maximum temperature while in 2014, the minimum temperature was 25 degrees, which was coolest on June 14 since 2010.

The city received 25.7 mm of rainfall till 8.30 a.m. In the last nine hours, it received 1 mm of rainfall.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky on Monday.

"Light rain and thunderstorm may occur in someone areas," said the official.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 34 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.

Saturday's maximum temperature was recorded at 39.7 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the minimum temperature settled at 20.5 degrees Celsius, seven notches below the season's average.
