Couple commits suicide in Bhopal

A couple committed suicide by consuming poison in a hotel here, police said on Friday.

According to the police, Manisha Lovanshi, 24, and Shubham Patel (20) killed themselves at Hotel Amardeep, located in Hanumanganj area, on Thursday.

When the hotel staff knocked on their door, they did not get any response which prompted them to break it open.

Shubham was already dead while Manisha was in a critical condition. She later died in a hospital.

"Preliminary investigation points at aluminium phosphide poisoning to be the cause of death. We are continuing with our probe," Hanumanganj police station in-charge Jitendra Pathak told the media.

The couple had frequented the hotel earlier also.
