The Communist Party of India-Marxist in West Bengal on Tuesday announced multilayered protest demonstrations in the state at the beginning of the new year against the Narendra Modi government's demonetisation move.
The CPI-M state committee will organise rallies, road shows, demonstrations and sit-ins at various part of the state between January 1 to January 10 protesting the common man's suffering and misery caused by the demonetisation, said a statement after the end of the two-day committee meet here.
Accusing the Modi government of making new announcements every day after demonetisation, CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said such frequent changes in money withdrawal policy have further confused people.
"The Left parties should take the initiative to notify people about Central Government's real intentions behind the note ban," he said at the meeting.
Yechury also called for pposition political parties to unite on the issue of demonetisation and go ahead with a proper plan of action.
Taking a swipe at the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for trying to hamper the secularism of the nation, Yechury call upon the CPI-M and other left parties to take a tough stand against them.
"BJP and RSS are trying to hit the foundation of secularism and democracy in the nation. CPI-M and the other left parties have to play an important role to fight against these powers," he added.
