Brazilian champions Cruzeiro have expressed interest in signing former Brazil strikers Fred and Leandro Damiao.
The club's vice president Marcio Rodrigues told TV Alterosa that talks were being held with both players, reported Xinhua.
"There have been negotiations with (both) but we are more advanced with Damiao," Rodrigues said.
"Nothing is certain and we will only confirm after a contract has been signed."
Fred recovered from a poor start to 2014 by finishing as the Brazilian Serie A's top scorer with 18 goals.
Damiao scored just 11 times in 43 first-team appearances for Santos this year after his 18 million-dollar transfer from Internacional.
