Fast moving consumer goods company Dabur India has selected seven young athletes for free training under its 'Ab Daudega Hindustan' campaign, the company said here on Friday.
The sports campaign is aimed at identifying capable sporting talent at the grassroots and nurturing them.
"This initiative is an effort to find talented athletes in the age group of 12-16 years. The shortlisted athletes will be provided world-class coaching under the guidance of Ashwini Nachappa Foundation at Coorg and sponsored by Dabur," Rajeev John, General Manager (Marketing) - Health Supplements, Dabur India told IANS.
Under this initiative, the company had reached out to schools, colleges, sports academies and institutes across the country to identify athletes who have the capability to find a place in the sporting arena and represent the country internationally.
The company said in a series of on-ground activation that was conducted across cities in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal to identify the talented athletes, it received an overwhelming 8,000 entries from across the country of which 350 athletes were shortlisted by an independent sports panel.
The company added that a team of experts headed by former Indian athletics champion Ashwini Nachappa shortlisted top 7 athletes from the group.
At present, the company operates in more than 100 countries. They are manufacturing products in more than 20 countries, like Turkey, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Egypt.
