Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chairperson Swati Maliwal on Wednesday criticised Bharatiya Janata Party MP Vinay Katiyar and Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav for their "misogynistic" comments and demanded a strict law to stop such comments.
"What kind of pathetic thought process Katiyar has, wherein he is objectifying a woman. And he is also encouraging others to objectify a woman through his comments," Maliwal told reporters.
"Sharad Yadav needs to understand that dignity of women is dignity of this country. At the end of the day, each and every woman is important. She is the driving force of the country," the chief said.
She said that it was high time to make a law "to force the politicians who make misogynistic, anti-women statements to vacate their seats or positions".
