DDA announces housing draw winners

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Tuesday organised a computerised draw of lots for its housing scheme for 2014 at its headquarters here. The names of the winners were later posted on its website.

Launched Sep 1, the housing scheme was hugely popular and over 10 lakh people applied for over 25,000 flats across five categories - janata flats, one bedroom flats, EWS flats, two and three bedroom flats - with prices ranging from Rs.5.4 lakh to Rs.1.2 crore.

Only those who did not own property in Delhi individually or jointly were allowed to apply.

According to the DDA, the handing over of the flats was likely to begin from January, once construction is completed.

The DDA will hold a special camp at its headquarters Vikas Sadan after 15 days, where allottees can collect their allotment letters by hand and submit documents.

Those who paid through a bank branch wherein they had deposited the application form but did not succeed in getting a flat, will get their registration fee of Rs.1 lakh refunded by the DDA.

For the successful applicants, the DDA will hold a documentation camp at its headquarters.

It is for the first time that a DDA housing scheme draw has been held within 40 days of closing of the scheme.

The payments will have to be made online and almost all flats will be ready by the December-end, a DDA official said.

People can check the results through their application numbers. The final result was made available as a PDF file on the website.

Meanwhile, hordes of people gathered outside Vikas Sadan since Tuesday morning, leading to chaos and effecting traffic in the area.

Around 17 lakh application forms were sold, and the last date had to be extended from Oct 9 to 15.
