Senior doctors from hospitals under the municipal corporations of Delhi on Wednesday threatened to launch an indefinite stir if their salaries, pending since February, were not paid within the next two days.

They earlier met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in this regard and brought to his notice their plight.

According to the doctors, they have not been paid salaries since February besides house and travel allowances and other arrears.

"We met Kejriwal-ji today (Wednesday) and have brought to his notice the issue of our pending salaries. We have also told him that if there is any political conflict between the municipality and the Delhi government... then we should not be made to suffer and our work should also not be hampered," said R.R. Gautam, president of Municipal Corporation Doctors Association (MCDA).

He said Kejriwal assured them that he will get their problems resolved within a week.

Apart from the municipal hospitals, doctors working with dispensaries and poly-clinics under the municipal corporations have also not received their salaries since last three months.

Earlier the sanitation workers of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) had staged protests against the delay in payment of salaries since February. During the protest, the workers not only refused to clean the streets, but also dumped garbage on streets and at various locations.
