Delhi government suspends senior officer for corruption

The Delhi government on Friday suspended a senior officer while conducting a crackdown on corruption.

Rs.50,000 in cash was seized from the official vehicle of Assistant Commissioner of Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Tax Department, Delhi government, for which he was suspended.

"No plausible explanation in this regard could be given by the officer," Sukesh Kumar Jain, secretary (vigilance), said in a statement.

"The matter is also being referred to the Anti-Corruption Branch for initiating criminal action," he added.
