A Delhi Police head constable posted in the crime branch was badly thrashed by two unidentified people over a petty issue, police said Monday.
Head constable Mohan Lal, in his 40s, was attacked outside the gate of his colony in Rohini Sector 18 around 11 p.m. Sunday.
He was beaten up by the accused when he became involved in a heated argument after his car was accidentally hit by a tempo that was being towed by the accused in another car.
After the accident, the head constable got down from his car and argued with the accused. During the argument, he slapped one of the accused and in turn they beat him up.
The colony's guard intervened and called police but before they reached the spot, the attackers fled.
Lal was rushed to a hospital from where he was discharged after first aid.
A case has been registered and three people have been detained in Samaypur Badli police station in north Delhi.
