The email of a woman assistant professor of Delhi University was hacked and defamatory mails using her photographs were sent to senior professors of her college, police said Thursday.

The professor, who teaches on ad-hoc basis in the English department of Ram Lal Anand College under the university, approached police after she came to know that her email had been hacked.

The case was later handed over to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) where it was registered Tuesday under sections 66 and 66C of the Information Technology Act.

An EOW official said prima facie it seems to be an act of some students of the college.
