Slamming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav said after Kejriwal's defeat in Punjab, people in Delhi will punish him for cheating Delhi.

According to the newly formed party's Chief National Spokesperson Anupam, Punjab -- which had welcomed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) despite a strong Prime Minister Narendra Modi wave in 2014 -- has given a befitting reply to AAP for abandoning its principles.

"Given the amount of anger against Badal and the general cynicism against Congress, it was an opportunity for Kejriwal and AAP to present an alternative but it badly failed as Kejriwal abandoned values, morals and principles to serve his naked political ambitions," Anupam told IANS.

He added that the people of Delhi are as angry at Kejriwal as Punjab was at Parkash Singh Badal and hence the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections will result in a similar fate for AAP as has been meted out to Badal.

"The AAP has been shamelessly spending crores of public money on advertisements in TV and newspapers. The common people will punish Kejriwal for cheating Delhi," Anupam said.
