The Gurgaon district administration Thursday demolished nearly a dozen illegal constructions that had come up in the restricted area near the IAF ammunition depot here, officials said.
The demolition drive was conducted in Om Vihar area after a satellite survey of the restricted zone showed new constructions.
Some people, however, protested the demolition. A protestor said people were not given time to even vacate the houses.
Officials of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) led the drive. They were accompanied by 400 policemen.
Police personnel and excavator machines had reached the IAF premises Wednesday night and started their move at 6 a.m. Thursday. The demolition continued till 4 p.m.
