'Demonetisation will help curb terror, prevent black money'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move to demonetise Rs 500 and 1,000 currency notes will curb terror and prevent black money, chairman of Assocham's MSME council Manguirish Pai Raikar said on Wednesday.

"A very courageous and visionary step of demonetisation taken by Modi will not only help in curbing black money, but also protect the vulnerable common man falling prey to loss due to fake currency being in circulation. The benefits of fake money being used for terrorist activities," the Goa-based Raikar said in a statement issued here.

"This measure will help in cleansing the system and taking the country to further development growth. There will be some teething troubles in the transformation period for which the citizens should volunteer to be part of the process," said the statement.

"To see the better days, we need to go through the difficult times," it added.
