India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni Wednesday inaugurated the Sachin Tendulkar Pavilion at the Jawaharlal Nehru SDtadium here.
This dedication is a joint venture between the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) and the Greater Cochin Development Corporation (GCDC), who own the stadium.
Dhoni inaugurated the pavilion, earlier the VIP box, and went around the 1000 sq. ft. area of space which has numerous pictures of the cricketing legend who retired last week.
On display is a T-shirt of Tendulkar which he signed and gifted to the KCA. The pictures include one with Don Bradman and another with Brian Lara. Tendulkar's childhood pictures are also on display alongwith a cricket bat which has been signed by his Mumbai Indians teammates.
"The pavilion will now be open to all to take a look at the precious moments of the great cricketer," said KCA official Jayasekhar.
The first One-Day International (ODI) between India and the West Indies being played here Thursday will be a day-night affair.
In a record 463 ODIs, Tendulkar has only two five-wicket hauls, both of which came at this ground. He has taken a total of 154 wickets in ODIs.
