Scanning equipment have been seized from a diagnostic centre here in Kerala after it was found that the centre was not registered under the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PNDT) Act, a health official said Thursday.
"Registration of such scan centres is mandatory," Hazeena, Ernakulam district medical officer, told IANS.
N. Sreedhar, additional director heath services, said he has been informed of the raid at the centre in Kochi by health officials.
As per the PNDT Act, scan centres also need to maintain a proper register of every obstetric ultrasound done there.
