A total of 20 differently-abled children are set to drive around the national capital in vintage cars as part of a car and bikes rally Saturday.
The 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally and Auto show will give a ride to differently-abled children in an attempt to spread awareness about the cause.
"This year we are riding for a good cause. There are thousands of differently-abled children in India, who exist on the fringes of the society. On most occasions we tend to forget them. This year, 20 of them will join us in celebrating the automobile heritage of India," said Madan Mohan, managing director of the 21 Gun Salute.
Mohan said the first five vintage cars of the rally will give a ride to a group of children to "spread awareness about the need for a more inclusive society".
Many international cars will be part of the rally, which will be flagged off from the Red Fort and drive past the Safadarjung Tomb, Qutab Minar, Chhattrapur, Sultanpur areas of the city before entering Gurgaon in Haryana.
The rally, which aims to provide a platform for car connoisseurs to exhibit their collections, will culminate at the Leisure Valley Park in Gurgaon, where the participants and guests will be facilitated.
The entire caravan of 135 participating vintage cars, bikes and scooters will also be part of a vintage auto show in Gurgaon.
The rally is organised by the 21 Gun Salute in association with Heritage Motoring Club of India (HMCI). The rally will showcase cars from the 1920 to 1965 period, hailing from various countries.
