Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar says he would love to make a sequel of his hit film "Dil Chahta Hai" with girls.

"Dil Chahta Hai" released in 2001 with actors Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna in the lead.

"We are not ignoring girls. We have always had very strong women characters in all our films... I'm a boy so it was easier for me to think from a boy's point of view. I do like this idea of 'Dil Chahta Hai' girl sequel. It's an idea worth exploring," Farhan told IANS.

Farhan brought in a fresh breeze of air into Indian cinema with his new way of storytelling through a heart-warming story of friends with "Dil Chahta Hai".

Talking about the whole idea of "Dil Chahta Hai" sequel, Farhan said: "This was something Alia (Bhatt) had mentioned in an interview, where she said I am going to call Farhan and tell him to make a sequel. I was like it would be fun... it sounds like a nice idea let me think about it.

"I do think it's a good idea. I do think there is a potential for a sequel. I think that it would be a nice place to explore," he added.

For now, Farhan is looking forward to "Rock On 2", which released on Friday.
