A 28-year-old labourer has been arrested for abducting a one-year-old toddler in a drunken condition, the Gurugram police said on Friday.
Manjeet, hailing from Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, kidnapped the girl child of his neighbour, also a labourer, in the evening of August 1, the police said.
"Accused abducted the baby in an inebriated condition and wanted to take her to his village in Ballia but was arrested by an alert police team," a senior police officer said.
An FIR under the Indian Penal Code's Section 365, kidnapping or abducting to confine person, was registered at Badshahpur police station.
The man was arrested from near Shikohpur-Rampura village located here on Delhi-Jaipur National Highway.
The arrested labourer will be presented before the court on Saturday.
