The Election Commission would announce the final list of candidates for the 39 Lok Sabha seats and 18 Assembly by-elections in Tamil Nadu on Friday, said the state Electoral Officer (CEO) here on Thursday.
Friday is the last day for withdrawal of nominations. The vote in these seats is scheduled for April 18.
Speaking to reporters, CEO Satyabrata Sahoo said of the 1,587 nominations received, 932 were found in order and 655 were rejected on scrutiny.
In case of Assembly by-elections, of the 518 nominations, 305 were found valid and 213 rejected.
Rs 50.20 crore unaccounted cash and 223 kg of gold had been seized by the flying squad across the state till Wednesday, he said.
According to Sahoo, 44 cases related to the model code of conduct violations have been registered.
