An EgyptAir aircraft was hijacked on Tuesday and it landed at the Larnaca airport in Cyprus, BBC reported.
"Our flight MS181 is officially hijacked," EgyptAir confirmed in a tweet.
Airline and Egyptian government sources said the domestic flight en route from Alexandria to Cairo was taken over by at least one armed hijacker.
The hijacker asked for the flight to land in Cyprus, an EgyptAir spokesperson said.
The flight, an Airbus 320, has about 80 people on board.
