EIL appointed consultant for mega refinery in Maharashtra

Engineers India Limited (EIL) has been appointed as the consultant for the mega refinery proposed to be set up in Maharashtra, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Friday.

"EIL is the consultant, this is the arrangement today. Let us see how things are moving," he said on the sidelines of the 150th foundation day celebrations of diversified public sector company Balmer Lawrie here.

The minister said the refinery, planned to be set up in the western coast in Maharashtra, is to be executed by the BPCL, IOCL and the HPCL.

"We had a very successful discussion with the Maharastra government. The construction of the much awaited mega refinery will be started soon.

"Project of this size, requires 15,000 acres of land with 33 percent of green cover. It is up to the Maharashtra government, where they will provide land," said Pradhan, also noting the project will require fiscal concession from the respective state and it is too early to spell outs its size and investment.
