Explosive powder kept in sacks and liquid explosives were seized by police Tuesday in Jharkhand's Giridih district, officials said.

Police raided a place in Bhelwaghati area of Giridih, around 270 km from Ranchi. The items seized include 10 sacks of explosive powder and one drum of liquid explosives.

Officials said many bombs could have been made from the seized explosives.

Police suspect the explosives were meant to be supplied to Maoist guerrillas active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
