Finance Minister P. Chidamabaram Friday suggested that the Congress field candidates below 35 years of age in half of the 543 Lok Sabha seats for which elections are due in April-May.
Speaking at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting here, Chidambaram said: "I have a radical idea. I believe and I appeal to all of you to reflect on that. I believe that at least in one half of parliament seats, the Congress party must field candidates below the age of 35 years."
He said a young and empowered India should be the slogan for the upcoming polls.
