The FIFA Under-17 World Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC) technical director Javier Ceppi on Friday confirmed one lakh tickets sold for the 24-nation football tournament in phase II of the official ticket sales.
The phase II of ticket sales started from July 7 after the official match draws were concluded and will go on till July 21. A total of 139,760 tickets were kept on sale in this phase.
"The fact that we have already sold 100,000 tickets for the World Cup when we are still 84 days from it, speaks volumes of the interest from fans into coming and watch the tournament. Ever since we opened the sales, it has defied the usual pattern for events here, where people wake up at the last minute and get the tickets then," Ceppi said.
Ceppi also mentioned he is expecting full stadiums in anticipation of the World Cup.
"We already have 100,000 fans that want to come to the stadiums, and it is very exciting. We are on the right track to show the whole world, full stadiums for the World Cup," Ceppi said.
